Electromagnetism is considered one of the four fundamental forces of the known universe and it is studied by a branch of physics that links and unifies the electric and magnetic phenomena in one theory.
Many of the phenomena in the universe are electrical in nature. Life would not be possible without electromagnetism, since we are an electric body, as can be seen from the electrical activity of the heart and brain, nerve conduction processes, and other organs of the body. The Earth itself has its own magnetic field. Electromagnetic fields are everywhere and their effects are felt throughout the planet, in our environment (home, office), in our body, in cells, and even in DNA and RNA chains.
Electromagnetism, whether natural or artificial, can create major disturbances in the surrounding environment: high levels of positive ions in the air we breathe, organ dysfunction by electrical imbalance (with the corresponding atomic-molecular changes represented by the so-called free radicals, etc.). This is not limited to the balance “human being/nature”, but has a direct impact on physical and mental health over all inhabitants of the planet.
Researchers have linked many organic disorders with the electromagnetic imbalance. Some examples are, among others: body aches, headaches, nausea, twitching and irritation of eyes, excessive fatigue, daze, saline imbalance (Calcium – Magnesium), fluid accumulation, respiratory difficulties, allergies and asthma, heart and circulatory problems, low blood pressure, loss of reflexes, increased sensitivity to pain, inflammation, bleeding, pulmonary embolism, thrombosis, and hypersecretion of serotonin (stress hormone) with all the consequences and problems arising in various forms of anxiety, overexitation, palpitations, insomnia, depression, irritability, and other problems to which we are not completely unfamiliar.
Scientists reported two events of connection between electromagnetism and the environment: on Earth, volcanic activity increased 500 percent overall from 1875 to 1975, while the activity of earthquakes has increased 400 percent since 1973. When comparing the years 1963 to 1993, the total number of natural disasters (hurricanes, typhoons, mud slides, waves, etc.) increased by 410 percent.
Electromagnetic sources are natural (the Sun and other stars, along with other celestial bodies) and artificial (instruments and actions of man).
We owe to the Sun, along with other factors, the existing life on our planet; and any change that occurs inside or outside our star affects every person on Earth.
The Sun is presently in a cycle of overheating and could be a significant factor of global warming (32.9° F per year since 1880). Half of the global warming of the last century could be attributed to the Sun. If this persists for several decades, significant climatic fluctuations may occur. During this new solar cycle (that began in 2007 and will end in 2015), the Russian satellites «Coronas» are analyzing the process of accumulation of free energy produced in the solar atmosphere and its conversion into energy by accelerating particles, solar flares and the correlation between solar activity and thunderstorms on Earth.
Sun electromagnetic changes directly affect the entire solar system; for example: the Martian atmosphere would be in process of becoming much denser than it was before; the brightness of planets would be increasing (especially Venus and Jupiter) and even Uranus and Neptune would have recently had a change of pole.
Moreover, on Earth, we add our own activities to all that comes from outside; in this case, our own artificial electromagnetic pollution.
In our civilization, electric power is so necessary for the human being and its progress that, in its absence, it would be not possible to imagine a normal world.
Radio, television, telecommunications, industrial development, office automation, advances in medicine, computers, cellphones, scientific research, and all the comforts of modern home: stereos, electric blankets, shavers, vacuum cleaners, microwaves, refrigerators, washing machines, alarm clocks, wireless phones, etc., are possible thanks to electricity and magnetism.
In parallel, we know that reality is always dual and simultaneously displays a positive and a negative side: our technological society can not escape from this rule.
Electrical and electronic appliances provide innumerable benefits and a great comfort to all of us. But those tools also provide radiation in the form of electromagnetic field.
While many of those gadgets generate radiation levels below the maximum allowed, people tend to be exposed to them for very long periods without any protection.
Whether natural or artificial sources, electromagnetism is an essential force that we have to monitor in order to maintain balance at home, that is, the Earth.
